Happy first Friday of February! This is your daily bulletin for February 7th, 2020. 

  1. Class of 2020 Graduation is closer than you think.  To avoid paying rush charges for your Senior Portraits please call JP Impressions to order or have your website re posted.  They are open most Saturdays for your ordering convenience as well.

  2. Yearbooks are now on sale online and in the A-06 bank for only $65! Buy before February 29th at yearbookordercenter.com, and use the code “6072”! What better way to look back at the year than buying a yearbook! 

  3. Hey Seniors!! Have you taken your senior portraits? Do you want to submit a senior quote for the yearbook? Well now you can! Submit your quote at tinyurl.com/IHSSeniorQuotes2020, again, tinyurl.com/IHSSeniorQuotes2020, or go to @ihs.yearbookclub and click the link in their bio. 

  4. Can you make flyers and videos? Do you want to be more involved with the school? Do you want to improve your leadership skills? Apply to be ASB Historian for the 2020-2021 term! Apply though the link, tinyurl.com/ASBHistorianApp and apply today! Applications are due February 23rd!

  5. If you want to find out more about what being a historian is, attend our Historian workshop! We’ll be covering the basics of graphic design and photo, as well as leadership and the responsibilities of being an ASB Officer. Our workshop is tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11th, from 3-5 in A Commons! See you there future historians!

  6. Hey Seniors, Application workshops start on Monday for community colleges. If you’re interested in attending a community college, your first step is to apply, and the easiest way to do that is to attend a workshop here at Independence. De Anza is holding their workshop Monday during 3rd, 4th, and 5th periods in the Library. Mission College is holding their workshop Tuesday during 3rd and 5th periods in the Library. Register for the workshop through Naviance or by emailing Mr. Hennessey and bring your social security or green card number. Also, our 2nd Cash for College workshop is this Tuesday, February 11th in the IHS Library from 2-6pm. Bring your tax and financial documents and get 1 on 1 help completing the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application.

  7. Hi Sixers! Are you interested in the German Club’s annual Schnitzelfest is next week!!! Come enjoy delicious all you can eat German food and desserts! The event will be on Wednesday, February 12th from 3:15-5:30pm in C-Commons! Tickets are $7 from any german club officer & $8 at the door!

  8. “Hey hey everyone! UNICEF will NOT be having a general meeting today due to AP meet & greets. See you next Friday!”

  9. SASHES ARE GOING UP AGAIN!! Sashes will be additional $5 after February 14!! HURRY and  Come to the sewing room Tuesdays and Thursdays after school at A-05 and place your orders! See you soon!! 

  10. Hey friends! Acts of Random Kindness Club will be selling Valentine’s grams! Each gram will include three heart-shaped French macarons and a cute gram design, ONLY for $3! We will be delivering to 3rd, 4th, and 5th period on Valentine’s Day. You can buy grams from any ARK officer or Ms. Helmer in C311.

  11.  (READ AS A POEM) Hey single mingles & love doveys! / Valentine’s Day is nearing, / show love to those endearing! / Send a hand-crocheted rose, with candy & your prose. / Yellow, pink, white, or red, / one for a friend or the one you might wed. / On sale Monday to Friday in A-05 @ lunch / Buy from Sewing club, just one or a bunch! 

  12. Hey pals! Bring Change to Mind Club will be selling PALentine Grams for your friends! Our grams include 1 yellow rose, 1 cookie, 3 chocolates, and a cute customized card all for only $3. You can buy them from any BC2M officers or Ms. Dang in C307 before February 12. We will be delivering them on Valentine’s Day during 3rd, 4th or 5th periods.

  13.  Key Club will be selling Valentine’s Day grams from now til the 13th! We’ll be selling heart-shaped rice krispie treats along with cute gran designs for only $2. However, you can pay an addition $1 for a balloon! If interested, be sure to contact any Key Club board member or officer

  14. Hey Sixers! Winter is flying by and Valentines Day is right around the corner. Show your love for your friends and classmates by buying Chess Club’s Brookie Grams, with the frankendessert goodie bag and a personalized note all for only $3.00! Ask a Chess Club officer to learn how you can support our club and give some joy during the holiday by buying a Brookie Gram for Valentines Day!

  16. The fourth grading period is flying by, and what better way to celebrate the end of winter than by buying a Valentines Day Gram from the IHS Black Student Union. The grams come with a little heartfelt note and miniature fruit kebabs, all for $2.00! If you want to spread some love and happiness this holiday and support the Black Student Union, ask a member of the club how you can buy some of our Valentines Day Grams!

  17. The Black Student Union is hosting a book drive to donate to charity for all of Black History Month. Please support BSU by donating any and all books that you can to Room C404 or to Mr. Flournoy before March 1st. Thank you so much and we hope you have a wonderful Black History Month!

  18. The class of 2021 will be selling their world famous brownies as Valentines Grams for only $1 dollars! Each gram comes with one brownie and a greetings card! You can buy yours special someone for only 1 dollars, sales end February 12th! 

  19. T.A.I.L.S. is selling Valentine grams, which includes a whale plushie and kisses, for 4 dollars. If you’re interested, you can buy one from any TAILS officer or at C-305, Mr. Haworth’s room, on Wednesday, February 12th.

  20.  TODAY will be HAWAIIAN NIGHT! Anyone who comes to the boys basketball game ON FRIDAY with a HAWAIIAN SHIRT will get in for FREE. the boys will be playing against Leigh HIgh School so come support and enjoy the LUAU.
